The annual International Balloon Festival is one of the best things to do in Albuquerque if you visit in early October.

You see, this is the largest balloon festival in North America (if not the world), with hundreds of balloons rising into the sky above the city.

During the 9-day festival, you can ride in hot air balloons (if you book this tour), watch the most beautiful fireworks and watch mass ascension (it’s amazing).

If you’re not visiting in October, don’t worry, you can take yourself to the Albuquerque Balloon Museum. Inside, you’ll learn everything you need to know about hot air ballooning, from its history to its evolution as a modern sport.

However, if you can, try to plan your trip around the annual Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, you won’t be disappointed!

Oh, and don’t forget to book a hot air balloon ride over the Rio Grande Valley. It’s pretty cool and all piloted by an experienced FAA licensed pilot. it’s good.

About 15 minutes from downtown Albuquerque is Petroglyph National Monument, a famous New Mexico petroglyph that you really can’t miss.
