If you’re up early, grab a table at Frothy Monkey as they have a great breakfast menu (including their cheesy grits bowl) and plenty of delicious coffee options.

People like me who are struggling to get out the door on time can grab a breakfast sandwich and a strong cup of joe from Drugstore Coffee.

A good way to get your bearings in any city is to walk. Free shuttles to Nashville depart at nine o’clock in the morning.

This is the best thing to do when you first come to Nashville. A walking tour will give you a great introduction to downtown Nashville, as well as solid recommendations from locals.

Speaking of music, you can spend the rest of the afternoon checking out the many music-related sights including the Country Music Hall of Fame, which takes you on a journey through the entire history of the genre that put Nashville on the map.

You can visit the museum from 9 am to 7 pm and visit their website to get tickets.

No matter which museum you visit, a quick stroll through the Music City Walk of Fame Park is worth it. It has plaques honoring some of the biggest names in the city’s music history

If you’re really excited for your weekend in Nashville, you might want to visit the historic Ryman Auditorium.

It was home to the Grand Ole Opry for 30 years, but was bulldozed after the Opry moved.

Fortunately, efforts to save and restore the Ryman have been completed.It is also a world-class venue for live music and once again hosts the Opry Show (November to January).

Where you go from here largely depends on what (and how much) you drink at the honky-tonk bar.

Those who like to paint the town and dance the night away should start late the next day. You don’t just sleep in Nashville on Sundays. Trust me, I’ve been there.

If you’re not completely wild the night before, you have a few more options for how to spend your day. I offer options for birders and early birds.

People traveling there may consider visiting one of the many historic sites in the area, the most popular being Belle Meade Plantation.

The Best Time To Visit Nashville

If you rent a car, you can get there yourself (click here for directions). It’s open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and with weekend tickets priced at $28, you’ll get a tour of the mansion and grounds, an in-depth tour of the horse farm, and a wine tasting… and bourbon if you want.

Don’t like getting up early for a big trip? Don’t worry there are plenty of ways to spend your second morning in Music City

Grab a coffee downtown, then start at the Tennessee State Capitol They don’t offer free tours on weekends, but these historic buildings and the on-site museum are still worth a visit.
