Top 5 August Adventures In Breckenridge, Colorado
One of the first places on our list is Colorado Springs, nestled high in the Rocky Mountains at the base of Pikes Peak. It’s the perfect place for a long weekend trip, so we’ve rounded up some of the best things to do in Colorado Springs!
Colorado Springs, also known as “The Springs,” is located in the center of the state, about halfway between Denver and Pueblo on Interstate 25. It is situated at an altitude of over 6,000 feet.
After chatting with some locals, we learned that it doesn’t snow in Colorado Springs, which I was surprised to learn. It’s one of the sunniest cities in the state, perfect if you’re visiting Colorado and want to experience sunny weather without the snow.
The headquarters of the United States Olympic Committee, Springs also carries the USA Olympic City brand as it is the largest Olympic training facility in the country as well as home to USA Hockey and 50+ national sports organizations.
Fun Things To Do In Colorado Springs If You Don’t Enjoy Hiking
You will see that there is a large military (Army and Air Force), about a quarter of the population is active military, civilian soldiers and their families. Colorado Springs and nearby El Paso are also home to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).
The largest city by area in the state, this large city is considered a high desert; It is like the snow-covered rocky mountain range that is located in one part of the city.

During our time in Colorado Springs we call Cheyenne Mountain Resort our home. No matter what time of year you visit the area, this resort is a great place to lay your head and explore all it has to offer.
The 10 Best Things To Do In Colorado Springs
Located in an area of more than 200 hectares, there are 18 golf courses, more than 10 tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pools, gyms, spas and “entertainment centers”. You can explore the trails on the 35-acre lake, where you can swim, sail, kayak, canoe or paddleboard.
I like this resort because there are many activities for guests. If you want to swim, walk, boat, exercise, do yoga or crossfit, play tennis or just relax by the pool. There is no shortage of exercise opportunities here.

Denver Sculpture Garden Archives
The Garden of the Gods is a national park, national tourist attraction and the region’s number 1 tourist attraction and when you see it, you’ll know why. Beautiful green hills juxtapose with red rocks seemingly out of nowhere. This is where you should check and there are many ways to do it.
You can take advantage of 15 km of hiking trails ranging from difficult roads leading through red rocks to the famous Garden of the Gods. The park also offers free guided tours every day. (Entry at the Visitor Center.) Cyclists can enjoy full singletrack bike trails as well as other off-road trails for other adventures.
Rock climbers flock to this mecca, which offers climbing for all skill levels. Visitors wishing to climb the red rocks must have appropriate equipment and a (free) climbing permit is required. Alternatively, Front Range Climbing Company offers half-day and full-day climbing tours for 1-4 people to suit any skill level.
For the uninitiated, a fun way to explore the park is on a Segway. 20-90 minute tours per day (note: there are also guided car and jeep tours, you can drive the car and discover on your own).

Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center The Nature Center is more than a space and a wall. In fact, it is a world-class museum with state-of-the-art technology that celebrates the geology, ecology and history of the area, as well as interactive and interactive exhibits. Perfect for any age.

This 14,115-foot peak in the Pike National Forest is the highest-visited peak in North America, attracting more than 500,000 visitors each year. Nestled above Colorado Springs and the Rocky Mountains, it’s a place worth exploring.
There are four different ways to see and discover Pike Peak: hike, bike, drive, or use the Pikes Peak Cog Train (closed in winter).
It’s a long way up. In fact, the Barr Trail is 13.5 miles with 7,510 vertical feet of climbing, which means it’s 27 miles round trip; Definitely not for the faint of heart. If you choose to do the ascent and descent, you should be up before dawn. You don’t want to stick to the top after hours of posting because it will give you shiny cash like redemption money to get you.
Whether you choose to ride all or part of it, make sure you pack the essentials. Water, food and clothing (temperatures can drop to 30+ degrees from low to high), and rain gear (you’ll probably be surprised by afternoon showers).

If you want to explore on two wheels you have two options. You can bike up the Pikes Peak Highway (and then ride back down), or you can take the Stainless Steel Tour (which closes for the winter and reopens in the spring). This tour will pick you up in the morning by car, you can drive at your leisure. The tour includes warm weather gear, a helmet, and lunch at Vines in Colorado.
It’s a 19-mile drive up the Pikes Peak Highway to the summit. You’ll pass three lakes, a picnic area, the historic Glen Cove Inn and the North Recreation Area. Have a picnic lunch and spend a day exploring this beautiful mountain.
The world’s longest cable car, built in 1891, takes you to the top of Pike’s Mountain. The journey takes 3.5 hours and allows you to see waterfalls, aspen forests, snow-capped mountains and really beautiful places. Advance booking is recommended.

Manitou Springs is a mountain resort just outside the borders of Colorado Springs. Its name is a combination of the Native American word for “great spirit” and the eight carbonated mineral springs that surround the town (and which claim to have a solution). These resources are available for free to anyone who wants to participate, and there are 7 resources to explore across the country. Click here to view a water map.
The starting point for the aforementioned Pikes Peak Cog Railroad, the town supports an artisan community, and the historic district is home to a variety of restaurants, art galleries, specialty shops and boutiques.
For some outdoor adventures, you can explore the Manitou Incline Trail, Manitou Cliff Residence, go skiing or fishing, rafting, hiking, biking or horseback riding.
