My family and I traveled from Denver to Glenwood Springs during the disaster and a few weeks after the Grizzly Creek Fire. The I-70 closure was lifted a few weeks prior to our arrival. Grizzly is about five miles east of Glenwood Springs and was there, but other attractions were closed for safety reasons, including Hanging Lake and Glenwood Canyon.

Glenwood Springs is an interesting town in Colorado. It’s a tourist’s dream come true. Glenwood Springs is the nexus of the Roaring Fork and Grand Rivers and is located between Aspen and Vail.

I would recommend this place again and again because of their good service and the convenience of the place in terms of everything. The Glenwood Springs Hotel is just steps away from the gondola ride that takes you to Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, which is very convenient.
There are many restaurants nearby, but the city center is less than 10 minutes away.
One of my favorite things was the bathroom. When you go to the reception, they will give you a water towel. The pool is open from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. but reservations are required due to Covid-19. But when we went, the hotel was empty, so we didn’t want to. We had the pool for a while.

Everyone respected and cared for the relationships between people. The water level in the pond has reached about three and a half feet. There is a basketball hoop and a really fun water slide! I know I’m almost 30, but I can tell you that with all the isolation I’ve had during this pandemic, I’ve been deprived of socializing and having fun. This can be a really fun thing to do in Glenwood Springs. Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is a family-friendly adventure park located in the mountains of Colorado. It’s perfect for families, kids, and kids at heart (aka me).
My family and I went in September when the plague was still there and we were safe (still are). The crew was very careful and sprayed and cleaned the ride, belts and everything that could come into contact with people.
All staff and guests wear masks at all times. There were also very few people so we were all able to spread out.

A gondola transports visitors from the valley to the entrance of the highland park. On this 5-minute walk you can enjoy incredible views.
Alpine Coaster – If you love speed, heights, thrills and roller coasters, this is the ride for you. The track is 3,400 feet long and has lots of twists, turns and fun. The ride is placed on the track, so you are completely safe. The ride is speed dependent and you can control the speed.
Haunted Mine Drop – This is a 110 foot drop and the first ride I ever went on. It is inside a building which adds to the suspense. I can’t spoil what happens, but I can’t wait to see where it goes. Talk about a fun ride. Another ride you definitely can’t miss.
Uphill Eagle Jeep Ride – I thought it would be a relaxing ride where you can enjoy the view of the mountains. I was so wrong! I was really scared because it drags you 600 feet down the mountain by your feet. It stops for a second and then takes you back to the beginning and ends with a very abrupt stop. Not for the faint of heart.

Glenwood Canyon Flyer – This is not your typical swinging flyer ride that you see at amusement parks. It is located on the edge of the mountain. As the Canyon Wheel slowly begins to move, you can see the tower below you. When you reach high speed, it takes you over the edge of a mountain as you swing over a cliff and suddenly you feel like you have no control over your life.
Giant Canyon Swing – I didn’t ride this one because I’m not good with swings that go back and forth, but I’ve included pictures.
It was incredibly fun. Make yourself feel like you’re part of the movie with moving seats and special in-cinema events.
We watched Monkey Madness. The 4D ride is perfect for those who don’t like riding real roller coasters but want to have fun.
Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park
As we said before, we went during the epidemic, so the people inside were few for each family. I’m sure it would be a lot more fun with other people, but we did a great job. This is great if you have a large group.
This is a 40-minute guided tour of the cave. You will learn about stalactites, stalagmites, soda, cave bacon, carrots and how the cave was discovered. If your guide is Becca, she is a ball of energy and will make the trip feel like music as she sings you cave songs. He is wonderful.
Unlike Fairy Caves, this attraction has 120 steps that you have to go down and back. They may not be suitable for everyone. Fun fact: They’ve had a few weddings here.
This is one of the restaurants at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. They had tacos, nachos and beer, but the best thing about this place is the view of the mountains and the gondola ride. Very exciting to eat here.

This is one of the fun things to do in Glenwood Springs and Colorado. We chose Iron Mountain Hot Springs at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort because Iron Mountain Hot Springs had several smaller pools instead of one big pool.
There are 16 different saltwater pools overlooking the beautiful Colorado River and mountains. In addition, there is a gym, family pool, relaxation area, shopping center next door and a bar.
This is the part of the trip that will make you feel like you are on vacation. I can’t imagine what it would be like in the winter with the snow and the scenery.
A two-and-a-half-hour appointment is required to visit, and masks are required at all times except in the water. I found that two and a half hours was enough to enjoy everything.

You are given a specific colored wristband and the staff will announce which type of wristband you are asked to leave every 30 minutes.
You are no longer allowed to store things in the lockers, but they do offer small cubicles outside the pool. We put our stuff on the bench next to the bathroom.
Towels and other essentials are available for purchase at the table, along with souvenirs related to Iron Mountain Hot Springs and Glenwood Springs.
I was very impressed with the staff here. Everyone was very helpful and I would recommend to anyone looking for fun things to do in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.
Glenwood Springs Welcome Center
The Sandbar offers a variety of beer, wine and cocktails. The prices were good, and the drinks we ordered were delicious!
I personally didn’t use the bathroom because I changed so quickly. My family did and they also said everything was clean and gave me shampoo, conditioner and soap.
Rifle Falls is surrounded by green trees and flowers. I didn’t expect much, but it was very impressive. Campsites are available.
We did the Camiño do Cayote for a short hike. It’s an easy journey. The trail takes you under and over waterfalls, through amazing limestone caves and aspen forests. Some are fishing. It takes about an hour to walk the whole way.

If you’re a foodie, it’s one of the fun things to do in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. This is one of the main reasons I visit.
Not going to lie, we were really tired and went to fast food for some food, so I didn’t have much food.
The Glenwood Springs Hotel has a complimentary breakfast. They only have muffins, cookies, and bananas as a precaution to keep everyone safe and their germs at bay. I think they had breakfast before the plague.
Dainik Roti: This is a restaurant located in the heart of the city. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Very stylish and modern with brick walls inside. They serve omelets, skillets, and eggs benedict
