Koshtan-Tau is the second of the Besengi brothers, and although a bit smaller, it has an attractive pyramid shape that appeals to mountain lovers. At the end of the 19th century, it was climbed for the first time during the climbing season of the Golden Mountain – the Austrian Alpine Club. It reached its peak in 1888.

Like all the mountains on this list, climbing Koshtan-Tau requires skill and dedication. Experienced climbers can take Route 4A on the north side of the mountain.

Most climbers approach Tetnuldi via the southwestern ridge. It is common to pitch tents at Camp 2 (3700m) on the first day and spend a day hiking in the area. It’s a steady climb up to 4300m – after which you’ll climb along exposed ridges. You may need to use a top rope to reach the top, so be sure to travel with an experienced guide.

We recommend going in a small group with a very experienced guide – climb to the top on the quietest Monday of the week. As always, a few day hikes in the area will give you a head start. Find the shelter of the Mont Blanc tramway in the Nid d’Aigle.
