LAKEWOOD, CO — Sophia Mayott-Guerrero, environmental policy advocate and community organizer, announced her campaign to run for Lakewood City Council Ward 2. In response to the launch, Sophia said the following:
“Lakewood is facing unprecedented growth, and with it comes the opportunity to become a city that leads, not follows. Residents deserve a representative on council that will stand up for our underfunded and underrepresented neighbors, fight for better public transportation, and plan for smart, sustainable growth. I am excited to be the next councilor for Lakewood’s Ward 2 and usher our city into a brighter future.”
Sophia currently serves as the director of state partnerships for League of Conservation Voters, a national environmental organization, where she advocates for racial equity within the environmental movement. Previously, she worked at Conservation Colorado as transportation and environmental justice advocate. A lifelong Coloradan, she was born in the San Luis Valley and graduated from Colorado State University.
